All breakfasts met the requirements of the US Department of Agriculture with fruit or fruit juice, grain, protein or milk. The calories on average did not differ between the meals offered in class or in the cafeteria. The study was not a test of the breakfast program, it was a test of where and when breakfast was offered at school, Bauer said.
