NEW YORK (WNCN) – A passenger on board an RDU flight to New York City said Friday that a suicidal woman had tried to open the aircraft door while screaming .

Stacy Herbert tweeted about the incident on board Delta Flight 5935.

"The young woman just tried to jump off our plane, unable to open the door, of course," wrote Herbert.

The Delta 5935 took off from RDU International Airport at 11:54 and landed at LaGuardia at 1:40 pm

Herbert described the woman as in her twenties.

She tweeted that the woman had tried to open the door as the flight went down in LGA.

"She was screaming that she needed to open the door and die," tweeted Herbert.

The police boarded the plane while it was taking place on the tarmac.

The port authority police collected statements from passengers, reported CBS2 in New York.

A police source told CBS2 that the woman was accompanied to New York by her father.

"I was not scared because I knew the door could not be opened but her screams were terrifying, and she was sitting behind us and when she was brought back to her seat, it was awful to see her suicidal distress," tweet Herbert.
