One of the suspects in the deadly school shooting Tuesday in Colorado, which killed one and eight others wounded, appeared for the first time in court on Wednesday.
The suspect Devon Erickson, 18, often shook his head to respond to the judge, according to the Associated Press. He replied "no" when asked if he had any questions.
Erickson and a second suspect – a minor – are accused of the attack at STEM School Highlands Ranch.

The charges in the Erickson case are expected to be filed Friday afternoon, local time, by Rob McCallum, public information officer with the Colorado Supreme Court, tweeted.
The Douglas County Coroner identified the student killed as Kendrick Ray Castillo, the Sheriff's Office ad. Castillo, 18, was killed when suspects opened fire in a classroom at K-12 charter school located south of Denver. The teenager would have saved the lives of his classmates.

In a class of British literature, Castillo, "rushed [at the suspect], "and was shot because of this, according to a student colleague at the school.

Nui Giasolli told NBC News' "Today's" broadcast Wednesday that Castillo's actions "[gave] We all have time to go under our desks, get in safety and run across the room to escape.
