TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) – A Florida man accused of stabbing five people at his workplace was charged with five counts of attempted murder, while authorities said his rage was triggered then that he was afraid of being about to be fired.

Five people were hospitalized for several stab wounds, including the human supervisor at the window and door supply company and a candidate for a position. Four remained at the hospital Thursday in good condition.

An affidavit statement published overnight by the Tallahassee Police Department describes a terrifying scene Wednesday, as one of his colleagues pleaded not to be killed.

"I'm going to save you this time," said Antwann Brown, a 41-year-old suspect, according to the affidavit.

Brown then left the building and crossed the street, where police said he had called his pastor to ask for forgiveness and prayer.

The police found the suspect stained with blood and placed him in custody.

A colleague who drove Brown to work told investigators that the man was in a good mood, according to the affidavit.

The affidavit stated that the suspect's mood had changed dramatically after hearing from his supervisor and another Dyke Industries official about "coding the need to terminate Brown."

The employee confronted his supervisor and a fight broke out. The supervisor ordered Brown to leave and his departure took place at approximately 8:20 am – 20 minutes after the start of his service, the police said.

The suspect returned a few minutes later and used what the police described as a sawtooth folded knife to stab his supervisor, a job seeker and three other people.

At a press conference a few hours after the bombings, Acting Police Chief Steven Outlaw said the suspect had been looking for his victims.

Police said Brown had been working at Dyke Industries for more than three months.

In addition to the charges of attempted murder, Brown is also facing a charge of aggravated assault.

Court records show that Brown has a long history of arrest, mainly for drug-related offenses, since his teenage years. He had already been arrested for resisting arrest without violence, intrusion, theft and battery. The battery charge was discontinued in 2014.
