The WCVB has learned that the 10th person arrested in connection with the shooting of the former "Slugger" of the Red Sox, David "Big Papi" Ortiz, could have been involved in planning the plot for the failed assassination. Prosecutors in the Dominican Republic believe that Gabriel Alexander Perez Vizcaino, nicknamed "The Bone," contacted one of the two detainees charged, learned the WCVB. Prosecutors said that detainee Jose Eduardo Ciprian had received the picture of the target and then collaborated with some of the suspects to organize the plot of the assassination. He met some of the suspects the week before the shooting, and the same day he showed them the picture, WCVB learned. The day after the shooting, Vizcaino sold the iPhone with which he communicated previously. The WCVB learned that prosecutors have alleged that another suspect, Alberto Miguel Rodriguez Mota – who is not in custody – paid the suspects for the attempted murder. The documents do not clearly indicate whether he simply paid money or whether he was the person who ordered the hit. Vizcaino appeared in court Monday evening. The court accepted Vizcaino.Ortiz's pre-trial detention for one year and continues to recover at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Police said that she was still looking for Rodriguez; Luis Alfredo Rivas Clase, said "The surgeon", who was the driver of one of the vehicles; and Maria Fernanda Villasmil Manzanilla, nicknamed "The Venezuelan" or "Red", who was in one of the cars.

Vizcaino appeared in court Monday evening. The court accepted the pre-trial detention of one year of Vizcaino.

Ortiz continues his recovery at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
