MILWAUKEE – A 17-year-old told investigators that he had shot and killed an elderly couple and was planning to cause harm in his high school in east Wisconsin, police said Monday.
Police officers who responded to a 911 call for help found the bodies of the man and woman at their home in Grand Falls around 11:30 am Sunday, said officer Travis Waas. He refused to disclose the details of the call.
Waas said the police arrested Alexander M. Kraus, who lives in Neenah, from the couple's home. Kraus admitted that he had shot the two men he knew, said Waas.
Kraus was detained at Outagamie County Jail and has not yet been charged. Police said in a press release that he could be charged in adulthood with two counts of first degree homicide.
The police did not identify the couple or their relationship with Kraus. Waas said that a shoulder weapon, allegedly used in the crime, was found at home. No information has been provided on why Kraus shot the couple.
Kraus also spoke to investigators about his plan to harm Neenah High School, where he was a teenager, Waas said. He added that the investigators had retrieved the documentation of the plan, but declined to comment on the nature of the plan or the severity of the threat.
The school district issued a statement Monday that the police had determined that there was no danger to students and high school staff and that the school day would run normally. Additional counselors were available to the students and the presence of the police was reinforced in high school, the district announced.
