A teenager was arrested after attacking his school director with a knife, police said

The student, an unidentified 14-year-old boy, walked through the Union School gym in Rutherford, New Jersey, and attacked senior Kurt Schweitzer with a folding knife, according to the city's police department. .

After stabbing, the student "went back, dropped the knife and raised his hands in the air," police said.

Schweitzer and the student were both treated for injuries that did not put their lives in danger.

"No one is in danger, no student was injured," wrote the police department on his Facebook page.

The student was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and possession of weapons, according to a police statement. The teenager was in custody on Friday night.

Authorities announced that police officers would attend the school graduation Wednesday as a precautionary measure.
