Google love a good Easter egg. Cutesie Douglas Adams refers to the search results for "askew" being just a a little A little twisted, there are all sorts of things hidden in the search engine if you know the right thing to type or the right buttons to press.
The latest novelty – a fun little game of tennis hidden in some pages of search results – is in the honor of the Wimbledon tennis tournament. With Wimbledon ending this weekend, this egg might not be around for a long time.
It's not so hard to find, but it's just hidden enough so that most people do not escape by chance.
Here's how to find it:
- You see this purple box that appears? See the navigation bar that says "Single men", "Single women", etc.? Grab it and slide it completely to the left to scroll the screen until the end.
- All in the end is a small tennis ball icon. Tap on it, and the game should be started.
Once you're done, it's almost Pong less paddles. Move to serve, then try to place your player in front of the ball to gather him back and forth. I do not know if it is possible to get the ball past the computer player – I did not see him arrive. But if you come back successfully, you score a point. Once you miss a return, the game is over.
It will work on both the laptop and desktop, but I found it much easier to play on the desktop.
