A neighbor had heard the shots and helped bring the four children of the father aged 4 to 13 years, reported The Chronicle. Back home, the neighbor saw the suspect stabbing himself with a kitchen knife, according to the report.

The suspect was taken to Southwest Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The link between the suspect and the family of the house was not immediately obvious. Police said the incident was still under investigation.
