"From 2016 to July 7, 2019, about 3 years, Delissa Crayton resided in the residence with her daughter, then under the age of 15," said the Seguin Police Department.

The remains were located in one room of the house, while Crayton and his daughter lived in the second bedroom, the police said. Investigators said they waited for final confirmation to identify the remains.

Crayton was arrested for "imprudently injuring a child under the age of 15, causing a child to have a severe mental disability, disability or injury," police said.

It is a second-degree crime punishable by two to twenty years of imprisonment and a fine of up to $ 10,000, the police said.

"This is an ongoing and active investigation by the Seguin Police Department, the Texas Rangers and the Guadalupe County District Attorney's Office," the department said.
