A new tyrannosaur fossil has been discovered in Utah – it is tiny compared to its most famous parent, T. rex. The Salt Lake Tribune reports.

Meet Moros intrepidus, a small Tyrannosaurus who lived in Emery County, Utah, during the Cretaceous period. At 96 million years old, it is the oldest species of Cretaceous tyrannosaur that has ever been discovered in North America. The discovery reduced the gap between tinos and dinosaurs by 70 million years.

And by small, think about the size of a mule deer. Moros was only 3 or 4 feet tall at the hip. The specimen found was estimated to be over seven years old and almost completely developed. His name means "announcer of destiny".
