A tradition like no other: Ben Simmons shoots videos

Hello friends.

In something that has become a tradition like no other, we have new offseason filming videos from Ben Simmons.

We know Simmons has once again worked with Chris Johnson, a renowned coach who has several top NBA clients – including Tyrese Maxey – but we haven’t seen many videos posted. That changed on Monday when Johnson shared a video of Simmons and veteran guard Rajon Rondo shooting 3s in his Instagram Story.

This next part is sure to piss off a lot of people, but Simmons seems natural to shoot here and whistle both shots. For people who weren’t thrilled that Simmons wasn’t competing in the Olympics and wondered how much work he was putting in, let’s go.

At the same time, we have already seen this film. It wasn’t even a scrum let alone Game 7 of the second round of the playoffs. It feels like every offseason Simmons teases us, sensing that this could be the year he unlocks the part of his game that could really take him up.

Alas, this did not happen.

This is largely why Simmons was allegedly embroiled in business rumors. Teams like the Warriors, Kings and Timberwolves have been linked with the talented but flawed All-Star, but Daryl Morey’s price tag would have been sky-high.

As The Athletic’s Derek Bodner points out, it sounds like a scenario in which Morey waits for a possible trade-off from Damian Lillard with the Trail Blazers. Neil Olshey doesn’t seem like a big Instagram guy, so Morey might want to make sure the video crosses his path.

We may be at the point of no return with Simmons and the squad, but it’s also possible that the Defensive Player of the Year finalist will wear a Sixers jersey on opening night.

If so, let’s hope this sweater goes with it.
