The news was announced this afternoon that an Amtrak train near Oakridge, Oregon, en route to California had been stuck with 183 people or more than 30 hours. And many people have reasonably assumed that this would be an apocalyptic situation now. But aside from a few modest disadvantages, this seems actually quite relaxed now.
The southbound train from Seattle to Los Angeles reportedly struck a tree on the train track on Sunday, and passengers have been stuck inside since. Why? The combination of its remote location and the heavy snow.
The basket of snacks is apparently empty and some people have to improvise diapers for their babies, but everyone seems to have understood everything. There is no hurt and Amtrak says they are trying to put everyone at ease. In fact, some people seem to have fun.
"It's like a giant kumbaya," said a passenger, Rebekah Dodson, CNN earlier this morning. "Aliens play cards. A teenager played his ukulele to the children to make them sleep. The ladies who had never met before danced in the alleys.
As you can see from the videos posted on social media and picked up by local news, everyone seems to be to go well, all things Considered.

This do not look as the Lord of the flies like what you can expect when modern critical infrastructures fail. Mirror selfies have plenty of time, even though it is reported that the reception of mobile phones is irregular. News channel KOIN 6 indicates that Verizon is the only company to provide decent service in the region at the moment.

Amtrak says that nobody on board is charged for food and water, but we do not know how many are left. (Hello America reported this morning that the train was "missing" food.)
An Amtrak spokesman said CNN that the train should be able to return to Eugene this morning, but it has not been reported yet. We will update this article when people are saved or the situation degenerates into cannibalism.
