A motorist sided Sunday at the corner of a busy street on Denver Street, sending two pedestrians flying into a disturbing scene recorded on tape.
The driver of a silver-colored sedan seemed to be stopping on Market Street, near 20th Street, in the LoDo entertainment district, just steps from Coors Field, around 2 am Sunday morning .
The police came to this neighborhood to rid an "excited crowd," Denver Police Division chief Ron Thomas told reporters on Monday.
It appeared that the officers present at the scene controlled the situation when, Suddenly, the driver of the sedan leaned out, emitting the sound of squealing tires, when she hit two people, making them fly through the air and onto the sidewalk.
The car, with the left passenger door swinging open, quickly took the 20th left and sped out, as horrified and stunned witnesses rushed to help the injured pedestrians.
"What we have learned afterwards, is that among this crowd, there are individuals who are trying to open the door of a vehicle to get to the interior of the vehicle, "said Thomas. "This vehicle then leaves the area at a high speed, hitting two people."
Although the police knew the registration plate and the owner of the car, there had been no arrest at 1:30 pm. MT.
Thomas suggested that the driver and other passengers of this sedan could have extenuating circumstances for the wild skin.
"That would probably be useful for our investigation if this person indulged and allowed us to continue the investigation," Thomas said.
Both victims were taken to local hospitals but were not seriously injured, the police said.
