The National Weather Service in Boulder is planning a major winter storm that will cover Colorado areas with several meters of snow by Sunday.

A winter storm warning is currently in effect for Summit County, which predicts snow accumulations of between 15 and 30 inches and isolated amounts of up to 40 inches by the end of Saturday night. Winds up to 45 mph will produce areas of blowing snow and poor visibility.

The maximum today is 37 degrees with a night minimum of 23 degrees.

The latest road conditions for Colorado can be obtained by calling 511 or visiting http://www.cotrip.org.

Joel Gratz, meteorologist at OpenSnow.com, said, "The snow conditions will become milder with time. Saturday should be mild and perhaps deep at noon or afternoon, and Sunday morning should be the sweetest and deepest. The powder is possible Monday as well as my confidence in me is weak. "
