FALMOUTH, Massachusetts (WTHR) – A woman who is under investigation for allegedly assaulting a man wearing a MAGA hat is currently under the custody of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) who is at risk of being deported.

According to the authorities, 41-year-old Rosiane Santos is a Brazilian citizen living illegally in America.

NBC Boston reports that Santos pleaded not guilty last week as a result of charges of assault and indictment for disorderly conduct after a man wearing a Make America Great Again cap in a Mexican restaurant.

Police went to the restaurant on February 15, where Bryton Turner said Santos had verbally abused him over his hat. Turner said that he was busy with his business.

Turner started filming and you can see Santos pulling off the hat. He responded by saying, "That's the problem, ignorant people like that."

Turner said that he was just trying to eat a good meal.

"That's the problem with America nowadays – people are simply ignorant," Turner said in the video. "They want to take on those who are educated."

NBC Boston reports that police arrested Santos at the restaurant. Police said his eyes were "bloodshot and glassy". She would have hit Turner in the head as she was coming out of the bar.

In a statement, a spokesman for the ICE said that Mr Santos had been seized of a referral procedure in a federal immigration court.
