Zhang is appearing at a Florida Federal Court hearing and prosecutors explain their case by explaining why Zhang represents a flight risk after attempting to enter Mar-a-Lago.
"She lies to everyone," and has no connection with the United States, said prosecutor Rolando Garcia.
"His links are all in China," he added.
Prosecutors claim to have found several electronic devices in his hotel room, including a signal detector capable of detecting hidden cameras, another cell phone, nine USB keys and five SIM cards. There were also several credit cards in his name.
Zhang arrived in Newark on a flight from Shanghai on March 28, Garcia said. The incident occurred on March 30th.
Zhang was discovered to have a USB key containing malware, as well as a laptop, an external hard drive and four cell phones. She was charged with two counts – making false declarations to federal authorities and committing an offense of entry into a restricted area without authorization.
She has not been charged with an offense referring to international espionage. However, the FBI investigated Zhang 's incident as part of a Chinese spying effort.
Mar-a-Lago Security
Trump described the Zhang case as a "random situation", but so far, the case has highlighted the possibility of security breaches of Trump's private club.
Zhang is introduced to the club, carrying a large number of electronic devices, including malware, on a USB stick. At first, she told a special agent in Mar-a-Lago that she wanted to go to the beach club pool. The manager of the beach club Mar-a-Lago then noted that her last name matches that of a member of the club and the club waved her hand, believing her to be the girl of the club member, and "because of a potential problem of language barrier", wrote the authorities in his criminal complaint.
A golf cart driver then took her to the main reception of the club, where Zhang claimed that she was attending an event of "the United States-China Association" and then informed a secret service agent of a "United Nations friendship event" at the scene – – which did not exist.
Later, Zhang told the authorities who interrogated him that his Chinese friend "Charles" had sent him from Shanghai to meet with the president's family about Chinese and American foreign economic relations, according to the complaint.
The case comes as Democrats urge Congress to get more information on security at Mar-a-Lago and, separately, an FBI investigation into the woman's efforts to get away from it. Florida businessman Li "Cindy" Yang to interact with Trump, after she appeared to be launched against Chinese customers. The opportunity to interact with the President and spent time in Mar-a-Lago and with the President at a Super Bowl party.
Previous hearing
Zhang's previous hearing, when she was arrested for the first time, was unusual – she admitted owning a BMW and a house of over $ 1 million in China, and she asked at length how she could get in touch with a lawyer or find the contacts phone number in America if she was detained in a Florida jail.
She said she worked as an investor and consultant with the goal of developing business relationships in the United States while retaining money in a Wells Fargo account here.
She has been in prison since her arrest, with a public defender appointed by the court representing her.
Federal Judge William Matthewman even noted the trick of his questions and his intelligence at the previous hearing. There has been controversy over the fact that Zhang speaks and understands English well, although the court provided him with an interpreter at the previous hearing.
