A hostage that began after an armed man barricaded himself in a Georgian house ended more than 15 hours later. Two dead and two other policemen were injured, authorities said Friday.
The agents made a "dynamic entry" into Stockbridge's house around 3:30 am on Friday and found the bodies of a woman and a 16-year-old boy inside the house. They both appeared to have been shot dead, said Henry County Police Captain Joey Smith.
The body of the woman was found in the garage, according to Smith.
The armed man, who was having sex with the woman, was also found dead from a self-inflicted bullet wound, police said. The authorities have not yet revealed their identity.
The Henry County Police Department was called home around 10:45 am on Thursday.
Smith had said at a press conference Thursday afternoon that a woman had called 911 after going home to check if a family member was living there. When the police arrived, they found an armed man barricaded with the teenager. The police think that there was a domestic conflict before the teenager was taken hostage.
Two policemen tried to enter the house and were shot by the shooter, police said Thursday.
One officer was wounded in the hand and the other in the torso and thigh. They were hospitalized for life-threatening injuries.
At first, the gunman announced to the police that he was going to release the teenager. On Thursday, officers fired shots into the house and the shooter fired on SWAT agents. They did not fight back.
Smith said the officers had decided to return home because of a "lack of confirmation, proof of life".
