Litchfield Park, Arizona – Leanne, who asked that her last name not be used, knows that she has the chance to tell her story after her scratched by a jaguar in an Arizona zoo.
"The black jaguars were against the fence and we walked around and we said to ourselves," Hey, we're going to make good pictures, "Leanne said.
The video on mobile phone caught the moment right after a jaguar at the Wildland World Zoo passed through the fence and gravely scraped Leanne.
"I was wrong to be bending over the fence," she said. "But I think the zoo should consider moving its fence."
A 3 foot barrier was supposed to keep the jaguar and people separated. The big cat has been removed from the exhibition, at least temporarily.
"No matter who can reach out, I'm not the first, and if they do not move the fence, I probably will not be the last," said Leanne.
In fact, exactly the same thing happened in this same chamber with the same jaguar last summer. Jeff Allan received several stitches and said the zoo had placed his fence too close.
But zoo officials maintain that the rules have simply not been followed.
"When people do not respect the barriers, there is always a chance that there is a problem," said Zoo Director Mickey Olson.
Leanne hopes to make her meeting too close an example.
"I did not expect it, I have the impression that we are all human, we make mistakes and I learned my lesson," she said.
She told him that her next big shot might be a little further away.
