A woman has "had several bad experiences" with a Texas officer who shot her, said the family

The woman who was shot by a police officer Monday night in Texas had "several bad experiences" with the officer before the shooting, said his family's lawyer.

Pamela Turner, 44, was shot and killed at around 10:40 pm Monday by an officer who was trying to arrest him in an apartment complex in Baytown, about 25 km east of Houston, said Lt. Steve Dorris, police spokesman for Baytown.

Civil rights lawyer Benjamin Crump said Wednesday in a statement that he now represented Pamela Turner's family.

Dorris said Tuesday that the officer had already dealt with Turner and knew that she had outstanding warrants. She was suffering from a mental illness, said her family.

According to Turner's family, the officer was patrolling regularly in the area and Turner had "several bad experiences" with him.

Dorris said Turner had hit the officer in the groin with his own stun gun, shocking him. The officer then fired several times at her, shooting her at least once, said Dorris. She was declared dead at the scene, the police said.

The deadly incident was recorded on social media and became viral. Some commentators wondered why the incident ended with Turner's death.

In the video, we hear Turner say "you are harassing me". She is on the ground and appears to reach the officer before he fires five shots.

In a video of the incident on Snapchat, Turner told the policewoman that she was pregnant. Police told NBC News Tuesday that she was not pregnant, but did not specify how they knew it.
