INDIO, California (AP) – A Coachella worker died while he was preparing for the festival of music and art in the Southern California desert

Goldenvoice, who places Coachella in Indio every year, said in a statement that the man was a fallen head rigger while working on a stage on the festival grounds at the Polish Empire Polo club. The statement did not identify him by name, but indicated that he had been part of the Coachella team for 20 years.

The six-day festival, spread over two long weekends, should begin Friday.

According to the release, all of Coachella are "in mourning for this loss". He said that the worker "did what he liked".

Ariana Grande, Childish Gambino and Janelle Monae are among the many acts to be won on the Coachella stages this year.
