A child was hospitalized Saturday night after being hit by a ball during a minor league baseball game.
The Indianapolis Indians said in a press release that a "young fan" seated along the Victory Field camp at the first goal was hit.

According to FOX59, witnesses reported seeing the child being taken on a cart.
According to the daily Indy Star, Indian emergency medical personnel had looked after the child before he was transported to the hospital. The condition of the child was not clear.
"Our thoughts are with the whole family," said the team in a statement.
The Indians have extended the safety net along the first baseline to Victory Field in 2017. The team also has placards around the stadium to ask fans to remain vigilant.
The Indians are the Triple-A subsidiary of the Pittsburgh Pirates and play in the International League.

The incident comes just days after Chicago Cubs player Albert Almora Jr. struck and injured a young girl at Minute Maid Park in Houston.
The incident led players to request additional safety nets around the field.
