A YouTuber apologized after footage of her asking her crying 9-year-old son to pose for a video thumbnail went viral.

California-based Jordan Cheyenne has been posting on his YouTube channel, which has more than half a million subscribers, for the past eight years. In addition to the daily vlogs about being a single mom, she also posts lifestyle and fitness videos.

Cheyenne posted a video on Wednesday explaining that her new puppy was diagnosed with parvovirus, a disease common in unvaccinated dogs and puppies that can be fatal.

The vlog, titled “We’re Heartbroken,” has since been deleted, but a clip was shared widely on social media, showing Cheyenne pulling her son Christian towards her and asking him to “pretend you’re crying”. to which he replies: “I cry”.

Cheyenne gives her a series of “video” instructions, telling her to put her hand to her face, look at her, and look at the camera. Throughout the process, her son keeps saying, “I’m actually crying.” Before turning off the camera, she said to her son: “It’s okay, it’s okay, it’s over.”

In a subsequent video, Cheyenne said that after the negative response, she re-uploaded the vlog without the footage of herself telling her son to pose, before removing the video completely later that day. The clip, which caused widespread backlash, was reposted on multiple social media platforms, with one getting over 700,000 views on Twitter.

According to social media analysis site Social Blade, his channel lost 1,000 subscribers on Wednesday. On the same day, Cheyenne posted a video titled “I’m extremely disappointed in myself” thanking her followers for criticizing her behavior and saying her “heart had dropped” upon reviewing the footage of her and her son. . “It’s so bad.
