The Green Bay Packers are back in the NFC championship game for the second year in a row after beating the Los Angeles Rams 32-18 at Lambeau Field on Saturday.
Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers rushed for a touchdown and threw two more, including a 58-yard draw to Allen Lazard to give Green Bay a 31-18 advantage at seven minutes from the end:
The Rams held their own through all four quarters and moved closer to 25-18 late in the third quarter after running back Cam Akers called his seven-yard touchdown with a successful two-point conversion on a tricks play:
Akers finished with 96 yards of scrimmage and a touchdown for the Rams, but the Packers eventually prevailed and moved on.
Green Bay will host the NFC title game for the first time since Rodgers became the team’s starting quarterback in 2008. The flagman started four NFC Championship games, but all were on the road.
The Rams entered the game shorthanded without main receiver Cooper Kupp (knee injury). Quarterback Jared Goff, who had surgery on his dislocated and broken right thumb three weeks ago, continued to play thanks to his injury.
