Syracuse, NY – The Syracuse Orange will face a familiar opponent at the ACC tournament opener in Greensboro, NC next week.

Syracuse (15-8 overall, 9-7 ACC) won the No. 8 seed of the ACC tournament and will face the No. 9 seed of North Carolina State in the second round of the tournament on Wednesday.

Syracuse and North Carolina State (13-9, 9-8) have played twice this season, with the Orange winning both games. Syracuse won 76-73 at Carrier Dome on Jan.31, then won Game 2 77-68 at Raleigh on Feb.9.

However, Team Wolfpack could be the hottest team in the conference heading into the ACC tournament. North Carolina State has won its last five games.

The winner of Syracuse-North Carolina state will qualify to face first-seeded Virginia in the quarter-finals on Thursday.

The SU-NC State game will begin at noon and will be televised on the ACC network.

The rest of the ACC tournament support looks like this:

Virginia captured the seed with a victory at Louisville on Saturday and a surprising loss to Florida State at Notre Dame. Virginia and Florida State were doubled for Thursday’s quarterfinals with Virginia Tech, the No.3 seed and No.4 seed Georgia Tech.

Louisville had a shot at being the No. 4 seed, but slipped to No. 7 with the loss to Virginia. Clemson climbed to No.5 and North Carolina placed No.6.

With his loss to North Carolina on Saturday, Duke fell to 10th overall. The Blue Devils are scheduled to play a first-round game against 15th seed Boston College. The winner will move on to play in Louisville.

Notre Dame and Wake Forest will play Tuesday with the winner against the No.6 seed North Carolina on Wednesday.

The other game of the first round will feature Pittsburgh’s No.12 against Miami’s No.13. Clemson awaits the winner of this match.
