ACC announces Miami to travel to play Duke on Saturday

A few weeks ago, the University of Miami announced it was rescheduling the remaining three games on the Hurricanes’ schedule due to a COVID-19 outbreak within the program.

After a two-week hiatus, Miami was due to travel to Wake Forest next Saturday, but that game was also struck out due to the high number of members on the Demon Deacons roster. On Sunday evening, the ACC announced that UM will in fact play this coming weekend. Miami will now travel to Durham, NC to take on the Duke Blue Devils at 8 p.m. Saturday. The game will be televised on ACC Network.

David Cutcliffe’s team were scheduled to play at Florida State on December 5, but the Seminoles are facing their own COVID-19 issues and shouldn’t be able to play. That left a window open for both teams, which is great for a Miami team that is still alive in the conference championship picture.

Duke (2-7) just lost 56-33 to Georgia Tech, a game in which they gave 523 total yards to a 3-5 Yellow Jackets team. But the Blue Devils have been tough for Miami, who abandoned the last two clashes against the ACC Coastal program. In 2018, Miami lost 20-12 in a rainy game at Hard Rock Stadium. Last year, Miami were beaten 14-3 in the second half of the game at Wallace Wade Stadium to lose 27-17 in the regular season finale.

Miami (7-1) is in a very different position than they’ve been in the last two meetings. The Hurricanes are No. 9 in the AP poll and No. 10 in the college football playoff standings last week. If the Hurricanes ended their drought against Duke, they would claim their fifth straight win since a game cut in early October against Clemson.
