The 56th annual Academy of Country Music Awards (ACM) is fast approaching and is returning to its regular time slot in April.

The show follows ACM 2020, which aired in September after being postponed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Here’s what you need to know about this year’s ACM Awards.

When will it be released?

The 2021 ACM Awards will take place on Sunday April 18.

How can I watch it?

The show will air live, on-demand and streamed via CBS at 8 p.m. EST.

Where will it take place?

Choosing to return to Nashville, Tennessee, instead of Las Vegas, the 56th annual ACM will again be broadcast from three different venues in the City of Music – including the Grand Ole Opry House, the Ryman Auditorium and the Bluebird Café.

“We are excited to return to Music City’s most iconic venues as we gather on April 18 to celebrate the best in country music, back in our normal awards cycle,” said Academy CEO country musician, Damon Whiteside.

“Huge thanks to the City of Nashville, Grand Ole Opry House, Ryman Auditorium and Bluebird Cafe for welcoming us to Nashville, where we can keep our performers safe while shining the spotlight on this bustling city after a harsh 2020. Whiteside added.

The Academy of Country Music, Dick Clark Productions and CBS announced the nominations on Friday, which honor some of country music’s top talent and rising stars.

Country music singer Maren Morris and superstar Chris Stapleton topped the nominations list, with six nominations in total.

Morris’s crossover pop hit “The Bones” was nominated for Single of the Year and earned him two nominations as songwriter and artist for song of the year. Morris also received a Group of the Year nomination for his all-star collaboration with The Highwomen.

Stapleton, who released his fourth solo studio album last year, “Starting Over,” was nominated for Male Artist of the Year, an award he has received twice. He was also nominated for Song of the Year as Songwriter and Artist, as well as Album of the Year as Artist and Producer.

Miranda Lambert has been nominated for the 15th time female artist of the year.

Miranda Lambert received five nominations this year, with only four nominations for her hit song “Bluebird”. She is also nominated for Female Artist of the Year, an honor she has won nine times.

Additionally, Ashley McBryde and Thomas Rhett both landed four nominations.

Notably, no woman has been nominated for the top prize in the Artist of the Year category. However, the five nominees for single of the year are performed by women, a first for the ACM Awards.

Besides “Bluebird” by Lambert and “The Bones” by Morris, “I Hope” by Gabby Barrett, the duo of Carly Pearce and Lee Brice “I Hope You’re Happy Now” and “More Hearts Than Mine” by Ingrid Andress complete the Category.

In addition, four black artists are also nominated this year in all categories, another first for the ACM Awards. Kane Brown was nominated for Album of the Year for his record “Mixtape Vol.1” while Jimmie Allen was nominated for New Male Artist of the Year after being nominated for the first time in the same category. in 2018.

Her 2020 song “Black Like Me,” released after George Floyd’s death, has never been gained ground on radio, but earned him critical acclaim and a Grammy Nomination for Best Country Solo Performance.

According to the criteria of the ACM Prize, artists can be nominated more than once in the new Artist of the Year categories as long as they have not previously won it and have not yet released a single one of their third studio album.
