A Navy SEAL acquitted in a war crimes trial sued two of his former lawyers and a non-profit military advocate.

The San Diego Union-Tribune said the lawsuit filed Friday in Texas by Petty Officer 1st Class, Edward Gallagher, claimed his case was not properly upheld. According to the file, lawyers Colby Vokey and Phillip Stackhouse, as well as United United Patriots, tried to delay the case in order to maximize the fundraising for the non-profit organization.

Stackhouse said he had not read the complaint yet. David Gurfein, CEO of United American Patriots, said he did not read it either. A lawyer from Vokey did not address the complaint in an email addressed to the newspaper on Saturday.

In July, a military jury released Gallagher from the murder. He was found guilty of posing for photos with the corpse of a 17-year-old activist.
