Activision has filed a lawsuit against Netflix, accusing the streaming giant of poaching CFO Spencer Neumann. Neumann was hired by Netflix days after a messy departure from Activision.

According to a lawsuit spotted by The Hollywood Reporter (via GamesIndustry), Activision accuses Netflix of intentional interference with the contract, unfair competition, and aiding and abetting breach of fiduciary duty.

In this lawsuit, Activision says Netflix encouraged Neumann to break his employment contract while Neumann negotiated with Netflix as part of his role as CFO of Activision. Part of that encouragement is said to have come from Netflix CEO Reed Hastings, who the documents say was “personally involved” in recruiting Neumann.

THR points out that this is the third time that Netflix has been accused of illegally poaching employees of other entertainment companies.

Neumann Has now been a part of Netflix for almost two years, having been hired by the streaming service as CFO in early 2019. As rumors about the hire circulated days before it was made official, eyebrows were raised because it came a few days after Neumann was put on leave while waiting to be fired from his CFO position at Activision Blizzard after a year and a half with the company.
