Images for the next one Call of Duty game have recently surfaced online, giving us a glimpse of what to expect for the future of the franchise. Now Activision has released a trailer for the upcoming episode called Call of Duty: The Vanguard, featuring elements that make it clear that the game is set during WWII. It shows ancient weapons, a beach littered with remains of planes from the time, a forest located in Germany, among others.
Vanguard was developed by Sledgehammer Games, the studio behind several other COD titles which include Call of Duty: WWII. Studio and publisher Activision will officially launch Avant-garde during an in-game event in Call of Duty: Warzone, a free battle royale that is part of Modern war and is connected to Black Ops: Cold War. This will happen during the Battle of Verdansk, which begins at 10:30 a.m. PT / 1:30 p.m. ET on August 19. We will likely know more about the event before then.
Activision, the game publisher, launches Avant-garde amid a sexual harassment lawsuit against parent company Activision Blizzard. The California Fair Employment Agency sued the gaming giant, accusing it of systemic gender discrimination and fostering a “frat boy” culture that is described as “fertile ground for harassment and discrimination at towards women “.
