Actor Bert Belasco dead at 38

Bert Belasco, known for his role in the BET series “Let’s stay together”, has died at the age of 38.

Belasco’s father Bert Sr. told TMZ his son was found dead Sunday in a Virginia hotel room after staff visited him. The actor was in the midst of quarantine for two weeks before a new movie was released, according to his father.

His girlfriend allegedly called the hotel when she had not heard from Belasco.

Bert Sr. believes his son died of an aneurysm but is awaiting an autopsy to officially announce his findings.

According to local media outlet ABC 8 News, the Henrico Police Department intervened at a hotel on Sunday for a medical emergency. According to the news channel, hotel staff said they received a call to check on Belasco when relatives could not reach them. The media reports that when first responders arrived he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Belasco’s spokesperson did not immediately return Fox News’ request for comment.

Belasco has also played roles in “I’m Dying Up Here”, “The Mick”, “Pitch”, “Key and Peele” and “Justified”, among others.

Her friend, actress Yvette Nicole Brown, responded to the tragic news on Twitter.

“I’m devastated by this news. Bert was my friend,” she tweeted. “We had JUST spoken last week. He was happy and excited about his new project and all the good that was to come.”

“No day is promised,” Brown added. “NO DAY.”

Belasco’s BET series co-star Jackée Harry also paid tribute to the young star on social media.

“Heartbroken at the passing of Bert – a talented and kind young man whom I had the pleasure of [sic] to work with many times on #LetsStayTogether, “she tweeted. “Hold on to your loved ones! Tomorrow is never promised.”
