Nina Dobrev has come a long way. Like one of my five favorite Canadian stars, she started in a little television series called Degrassi: the next generation. She is now shooting movies celebrating her tenth birthday of being an extremely popular vampire. She is also in the forefront of Dior's Spring 2020 Parade in Paris for Paris Fashion Week.
Before the makeup artist, Daniel Martin, created Dobrev's smoky eye (compliments of Dior's new Backstage Custom palette with a new Dior Ultra Care nude lip), The Cut quickly caught up with # 39; actress to talk about the face of a serial killer masks, vampire meetings and croissants.
What does your night beauty routine look like?
Oh, you have no idea. I think the older I get, the more important it becomes. When I was younger, I always fell asleep in my makeup and it would not really have any effect, but nowadays, because of maturity, knowledge and growth, it has changed.
I take off my makeup with a makeup wipe, just something from CVS, and then everything is about cleaning, a toner, an excellent moisturizer, a cream for the eyes and all the serums. I usually use Dr. Sturm eye cream at night and I use Dior Prestige Cream for my moisturizer. I'm so dry in the middle of the night that I also have to use a lip balm and Dior's lip balm. I also use a Goddess mask every other day before putting on my moisturizer.
What time do you go to bed?
Like my weight, the timing fluctuates[[[[Laughs]. I try to go to bed at ten o'clock and good nights, I can. Most of the time, I go to bed at ten o'clock and watch a TV show or movie, then go to bed at 11:30 pm. or midnight. Not bad, but it could be better.

How do you like to manage jet lag?
It's the worst. But again, this is not the case. I travel a lot and I'm in very different time zones, but most of the time, I'm pretty lucky because I sleep well on planes. Other than that, I always have a sleep mask because if there is even a rift from the light, I will be standing. I also sleep with a sound machine. Sound machines are my secret weapon because they dissipate all noise and keep you in this quiet, calm and relaxing environment. Between these two and chamomile tea, these are my tips. I do not count sheep or anything.
What is the most nervous you've ever been?
There were two scenarios. We were when I filmed the pilot episode of Fam, the sitcom I was on last year. I was in front of an audience while I was used to filming and doing several shots, with the added pressure of those watching me live. The first time we did this was really scary, but it has become simpler with time.
The other time, it was about a year and a half ago – the film will be released next month – but I was shooting this film where I had to speak French. I speak it with my family at home, but it's a little broken French and it's been a long time since I live in France. I was very, very, very nervous because of the pressure exerted to press the accent and pronounce all the words correctly. My family will watch the film and I wanted to live up to their expectations and make sure that I do it justice. But at least I did not have to do it live!

What is your best beauty advice and where did you learn it?
I'm learning a lot of random makeup tips. One of my favorites is the one I learned from Daniel Martin, who actually makes up for the series, which is fortuitous. Do you know when you want your eyeliner to look? Eyeliner not really thick, but you want it to be perfectly on the edge of your lashes; super thin, really close to?
He taught me that if you draw it – like a mess, it does not have to be perfect – make a thick line from top to bottom. Then take a wet cotton swab and wipe it all the way to the edge of the eyelashes, then make up around your concealer, everything. This makes the perfect and perfect little black line. Instead of trying to make it perfect, just mess it up and delete it. I crushed it that way in the last year or so.
Okay, quick shot …
Matt lips or glossy lips?
Matte lips.
Cat's eye or smoky eye?
Cat's eye.
What is the last song you listened to?
"ABC" by the Jackson Five. It was on the radio in the car today while I was driving.
What is the last thing you watched closely?
Euphoria. Oh my God. Pure gold. I want to watch it again, it was so good. Zendaya crushes everything. The girl can not hurt.
What's on the lock screen of your phone?
My dog.
What is the last text you sent?
A picture of Ibiza last weekend with some of my Vampire Diary members of the cast. I took it on my phone, so I simply sent them a text message.
What is your favorite snack?
Some croissants. Hands down, croissants. Only in Paris. I've had three today. I will probably not be part of my outfit for the show, but you know, when in Rome / when in Paris, you have to do it. They are French, they will understand.
