Adam Devine will star in a reboot of Perfect for Peacock, reprising his role as Bumper Allen, whom Devine himself describes as “very serious about acapella to the point that it’s weird.” Peacock has commissioned the series from Universal Television and intends to air it on the NBCUniversal streaming service. It will be written by Megan Amram (The Good Place, an Emmy for Megan), who will also act as a showrunner.
The series takes place several years after the premiere Perfect film, with DeVine’s Bumper Allen moving to Germany in hopes of reviving his musical career when one of his songs becomes famous in Berlin. The bumper is the main antagonist of the first Perfect film as the leader of the all-male a capella rival group the Treblemakers. He appears in a smaller role in the second film and is absent from the third.
Elizabeth Banks of Brownstone Productions (who stars in the three Perfect films and directed Perfect location 2) and Max Handelman, along with Paul Brooks and Scott Neimeyer of Gold Circle Films, will be executive producers. Devine and Amram will also be executive producers.
