Actor Adam Sandler has returned under the lights of NBC's 8H studio to host "Saturday Night Live" for the very first time – nearly 25 years after its release from the show. Even though it's been a long time since he has not played in the cast of the sketch show that launched it, he does not forget the past – especially his friend and former member of the distribution, the regretted Chris Farley.
Sandler, originally from many popular characters and sketches, including "The Chanukah Song" and "Opera Man," took a moment at the end of the May 4 episode to pay homage to Farley with a musical performance. During the moving four-and-a-half-minute performance, Sandler shared both happy and sad memories, drinking after the week's show together, at the sight of Farley crying in the office about her father.
Sandler also shared the last "big punch" shared by his friends at the wedding of fellow SNL alumni Tim Meadows. "But a few months later, the party ended," Sandler sang as her voice began to break. "We flew to Madison to bury our friend – nothing was harder than saying goodbye."
The comedian finished the performance by talking about Farley's legacy – how his videos always make Sandler's kids laugh. And, asked the public to encourage loud enough, so, "maybe he'll hear us."
Farley and Sandler shared the scenes of the series in the 90s, becoming two of the stars of the decade, as well as quick friends. But the pair was sent back from "SNL" in 1995.
