The founder of Blackwater, Erik Prince, will be the subject of a referral to the Justice Department on Tuesday.
Adam Schiff, D-Calif., Said that the House of Representatives Intelligence Committee, of which he is president, was going to "make a criminal referral today" for misleading the panel.
After reading the report of special advocate Robert Mueller, Schiff said: "I think there is very strong evidence that he deliberately misled the committee."
Prince, a former Navy member and associate of President Trump, told congressional investigators in November 2017 that a post-election meeting in Seychelles with a Russian financier close to Russian President Vladimir Putin was a chance meeting.
However, Mueller discovered that Prince had arranged the meeting with Kirill Dmitriev nine days before the inauguration of Trump.
Lebanese businessman George Nader also told Prince that the Russians wanted to bond with the new Trump government and that he had told him that his team was there. Prince had told Congress that he was not acting as a representative of the Trump transition team.
