Addison Rae responds to backlash against UFC concert

Addison Rae may be pulling out her journalist’s notebook, at least for now.

The influencer said she was “fired” after sports fans challenged her recent gig in a red carpet interview for the UFC – and her joke that she “studied journalism from broadcast at the university for 3 full months to prepare for this moment “.

“Nvm, you all fired me” she tweeted hours after social media users accused TikToker of taking a job from a more qualified candidate.

Rae – who covered a preliminary event for Saturday’s big UFC 264, where Dustin Poirier beat Conor McGregor – found support from many followers, including one who tweeted: I don’t want you to succeed, come back, you have did a great job.

Another added: “Canceling culture is so bad. SAD! Enemies and losers will never prevail.

Yet many felt that a wrong had been righted, believing that those who studied to become journalists should have access to such opportunities.

“Not to stack, but you got fired,” tweeted an observer. “The hard ‘3 full months’ flex is what made it happen. If you had said something generic like “dreams really do come true” you would have gained a ton of goodwill. I am sure you will land on your feet. Good luck.”

But the star would never have had a long-term gig with the UFC and therefore would not have been “fired,” according to E! New.

“She did a social activation for the UFC where she interviewed Dustin because they are from the same city, Lafayette,” a source with knowledge of the situation told the site. “She is not, and never has been, a correspondent. … It was never intended that she would assume other official responsibilities.
