Adobe has formed an AI to detect facial manipulation in Photoshop

The team formed a convolutional neuron network (CNN) to detect changes in images created with Photoshop's Face Away Liquify feature, designed to modify eyes, mouth, and other facial features. Once tested, the neural network detected altered images up to 99% of the time. In comparison, people who saw the same pictures found changes only 53% of the time. The tool was also able to restore the images that he had predicted that they were at the origin.

This is not the first time, Adobe uses artificial intelligence to identify images with photoshopping, but this work is specifically intended for the detection of facial manipulations. The company says the job is more urgent than ever. "We live in a world where it is increasingly difficult to trust the digital information we consume," said Richard Zhang, a researcher at Adobe. And when it comes to spotting manipulated images and altered faces, Adobe says it's just the beginning.
