Adult Swim teases secret YouTube video that will air on April 1 at midnight, and if the story is any indication, it could be Rick and morty Related.
The network sent emails containing a link to a YouTube video that is currently set as private, but it is supposed to be uploaded at midnight. While there’s no way of knowing what this video might be, Adult Swim did create an episode of Rick and morty as an April Fools’ surprise in the past, and with a new season coming up, that seems like a possibility.
Of course, anyone who’s spent time on the internet knows that April Fool’s Day is known for internet pranks – some of which end up being pretty poorly designed. However, Adults Swim is known for its April 1 gags dating back to 2004.
But what is probably the most interesting about Rick and morty fans is that in 2017, ahead of the show’s third season, Adult Swim kicked off the season one episode one as a special surprise and continued to air it until the end of the day. During the day, the surprise episode was watched by over 11 million people, according to Adult Swim. The remainder of the season then aired four months later starting July 30.
With that in mind, it’s certainly not out of the question that Adult Swim could do the same this year with the Season 5 premiere. Thanks to the trailer that released on Tuesday, we know that Season 5 is set to premiere. debut on June 20 – which gives that timing quite similar to the surprise release of 2017. It wouldn’t be too difficult for Adult Swim to just drop an episode early to get fans excited.
Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that this is actually related to Rick and morty at all. As of 2017, only two of the network’s April Fool’s jokes have been linked to Rick and morty.
When Polygon contacted, Cartoon Network declined to comment on what exactly the YouTube link for Adult Swim was used for. So this is your fair warning, if you connect to the video it might be Rick and Morty, or it could be something completely different. Update: Sadly, Adult Swim hasn’t released a new episode of Rick and morty. Instead, the network’s April Fool’s joke this year is that it temporarily turns into Junior adult swimming, a children’s network with a baby version of all your current and former favorite characters from Adult Swim.
The trailer for Adult Swim Junior includes a show called The Venture Nephews, with baby Brock and baby Rusty Venture, as well as brief character glimpses of The Boondocks, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and Space Ghost side by side.
Of course, no Adult Swim joke would be complete without an appearance by everyone’s favorite Mad Scientist and his grandson, who received their own short film. Rick and Morty Babies.
