Adults born between 1957 and the early 1970s who were vaccinated against measles as children might need to be vaccinated again.

Measles vaccines administered from the late 1950s to the early 1970s were not as effective as the vaccine administered today, said Dr. Roy Buchinsky of University Hospitals in Beachwood, Ohio. WOIO-TV.
"We are now recommending that people traveling abroad born between the years -57 and the early 1970s be re-immunized when traveling abroad to areas where measles may be more abundant, "said Buchinsky.
Those traveling to areas affected by a recent measles outbreak should also consider getting vaccinated again, WOIO-TV reported. An "epidemic" is defined as three or more cases of illness, reported the TV channel. Until now, in 2019, there have been three measles epidemics in the state of New York and an epidemic in the state of Washington, Texas and in Illinois.
