Last night’s Homecoming edition of AEW Dynamite attracted an average of 1.102 million viewers on TNT, down 0.5% from last week. While this is the second week in a row that Dynamite’s overall viewership has declined, it is still the sixth-highest audience in the show’s history.
This is the fourth week in a row that Dynamite has surpassed one million viewers. Prior to that, the show had only exceeded that number seven times since its debut in October 2019.
In demo 18-49, Dynamite got a rating of 0.46, up 2.2% from last week. This is the second best number Dynamite has ever achieved in this category, behind the first episode, which drew a 0.68.
In terms of actual viewers in the 18-49 demo, Dynamite averaged 593,000 viewers, up from 582,000 last week. The closest wrestling comparison would now be WWE Raw, which averaged 657,000 viewers in the demo on Monday.
Year over year, Dynamite grew 22.3% in overall viewers and 27.8% in demo 18-49. The show has seen a 20% or more year-over-year increase in five of the past six weeks, coinciding with AEW’s return to live touring. This week saw a return to Jacksonville, where AEW operated from May 2020 until the end of June of this year.
Compared to the 10-week average, as shown in the graph below, Dynamite was up 11.6% in overall viewers and 24.3% in the 18-49 demo. So, based on this information, the recent increase in audience numbers is due to younger viewers.
