In the journal Nature Communications, researchers said that they had succeeded in creating embryos from sperm and a southern white rhinoceros

It is the first time that such embryos Hybrids have been created, and scientists from Europe and the United States hope that it will provide a way to rescue the northern white rhinoceros subspecies, of which only two females

They plan to soon harvest female oocytes and produce "pure" northern white rhinos that will be worn by a southern white substitute in three years

They also work on a second method that would allow to see spermatozoa and eggs produced from conserved cells of white rhinoceros
