Danvic Petroleum International Corporation unveiled plans to establish a Petroleum Institute / Private University to fill the skills gap in Nigeria's oil and gas sector.

In addition, the company produced the second set of graduates from the Danvic Oil Training Center after six months of practical training in geoscience.

The company's CEO, Dr. Mayowa Afe, made this revelation at the second graduation ceremony of the Danvic Petroleum Center in Lagos. According to him, the Petroleum University should bridge the gap between the theory of the Nigerian university and the necessary practical knowledge in the oil and gas industry.

He revealed that the university would also contribute to the development of local content in Africa by preparing students to become employable in the oil and gas sector, particularly in geoscience and petroleum engineering.

Afe said Geoscientists at Nigerian universities lack the skills and experience to ensure their employability in a world-clbad geoscience environment.

He said this scenario was regrettable in the years before the advent of the local government of Nigeria. The content policy has led to many international oil and gas companies that are in the country for business to find staff overseas.

Afe who is also the president of the Association of Oil and Gas Trainers (OGTAN), said that This, he said, led to the establishment of the Danvic Oil Training Center, which would soon become a university with the aim of strengthening the Nigerian government's local content policy. and interventions in the oil and gas industry.

Speaking of the training program, Afe explained, "The Danvic Petroleum School is an intensive six-month program for graduates and young geoscience professionals to take courses in all aspects of oil and gas. gas from exploration to production

The six-month courses are divided into four modules, including lectures and theory, while the third module includes hands-on sessions by geoscientists and engineers of the oil and gas industry.
