Some Frozen Foods Ordered on UAE Shelves Against Deadly Bacteria

The United Arab Emirates has removed frozen fruits and vegetables of European origin produced by Greenyard, fearing that they contain a deadly bacteria. According to a senior official of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MoCCAE), the decision is based on a warning issued by European Union countries regarding frozen vegetables and fruit products contaminated with listeria, who even caused death.

Listeria is a harmful bacteria that thrives in ready-to-eat foods that can cause severe food poisoning. The ministry has urged consumers to return or reject the products on the list as they may pose "serious health risks, including for the elderly, pregnant women and the immunocompromised".
