Rabada is no longer No. 1, Steyn ranks last

Cape Town – Kagiso Rabada is no longer the bowler of the world's No. 1 test, according to the latest ICC rankings, after Proteas' 199-strong defeat against Sri Lanka during the second test in Colombo.

After picking up a single wicket, Rabada fell to second place, which means that English bowler James Anderson will start the 1,000th test Next week, the best bowling player

Rabada entered the Colombo Test in the lead of Anderson by seven points, by 10 points

There was also some bad news for veteran fast bowler Dale Steyn .

Steyn remained without fans for the first time in his career in the Colombo test.

As a result, he conceded 36 points and lost five places in the final rankings. Steyn is now ranked 24th out of 635 points, which is her lowest total points since October 2007.

Meanwhile, spinner Keshav Maharaj was rewarded with a five-place increase after his match figures of 12-283, which included 9-129 in the first innings.

Maharaj is now ranked 18th in the world and his points score (692) is the highest for a Proteas spinnaker since Paul Harris reached 705 in December 2009.

In the batting department, drummer no. 3 Theunis De Bruyn was the greatest player in the last rankings.

Although De Bruyn's 101 failed to save his team, his first test took the 25-year-old from 148th to 105th.

Proteas opening drummers Aiden Markram slipped three places to be 10th and Dean Elgar dropped a place to be ninth.

The Proteas will now focus on overs overs format with the first of five ODIs starting on Sunday, July 29 (6:15 am).
