Cape Town – The Mzansi Super League (MSL) announced emphatically when it drew a higher live television audience to 3.4 million viewers of four T20 games played on the opening weekend.

The sports audience badysis conducted independently by Nielsen Sport revealed that a unique audience of 3,418,594 people had viewed all four matches.

The record number of 1,665,546 unique viewers was recorded for Saturday's meeting between Jozi Stars and Nelson Mandela Bay Giants, the four games going beyond the 1.3 million mark.

"This fully justifies our decision to take SABC as a host broadcast partner," commented Thabang Moroe, managing director of Cricket South Africa (CSA).

"It's really a product for people and helped us achieve one of our key goals, not only to attract traditional cricket fans, but also to open a new market.

"It's a win-win situation for all our partners, be they administrators, players, coaches, fans or our business partners.

"The MSL can only get stronger as it will continue to grow while establishing itself alongside various T20 leagues around the world," said Moroe.
