Cape Town – CEO of Western Province Paul Zacks thanked the outgoing President Thelo Wakefield for his services to the union.
Wakefield left Monday his position as WPRFU President after serving from 2012 to 2018, the maximum term of office.
He was replaced by former Vice President Zelt Marais.
"I want to thank Thelo Wakefield for his years of rugby service in the Western Province and I look forward to forming a close partnership with Zelt Marais as the new president," Zacks said in a press release.
Wakefield, who is now in the process of chairing the union presidents' fund, added, "It has been a pleasure to serve WPRFU for 28 years, and especially for six years, as President, Union and cherish memories. my mandate ".
Wakefield's successor, Marais, has been a member of WPRFU's executive committee for 12 years and has been vice-president of the union for the past two years.
Moneeb Levy was elected vice president and Spencer King (unopposed) vice-president.
"It is a great honor for me to be elected to this prestigious position and I will do everything to fulfill my club mandate and lead the WPRFU in the future," said Marais.
