In doing so, Dyantyi, 24, became the first South African to win this prestigious player award in their first international season.
Fast winger Bok scored his test debut with a test against England in June. He has never been so disappointed. He debuted in 13 of 14 South African tests in 2018 and scored six tries, including straps against Argentina and a win against the New Zealand World Champions in Wellington.
"Aphiwe has been sensational since entering the senior provincial rugby and after a great first season for the Super Rugby Lions, he was wisely called into the Springbok team," Alexander said.
"Despite his limited international experience, Aphiwe never seemed uncomfortable with the Springbok jersey and he had an immediate impact, marking a start for the Boks against the England in June.
"These are his two trials in Wellington, when the Boks beat the All Blacks in New Zealand for the first time in nine years, which will remain the best for his superb start to the test season.
"He was the top scorer in the Rugby Championship, which is a great success for a newbie player. We are all very proud of him and look forward to seeing the same thing in 2019. "
Upon receiving the award, Dyantyi called his year "more than a roller coaster".
"I was really lucky in many ways, with the people around me who have helped me in the last few years. It's really amazing, "said Dyantyi.
"To be part of the Springboks, to represent our country, it does not improve. I am very honored to never imagine that I would be the one sitting here, receiving a prize like this.
"I just want to continue to challenge myself to continue to improve and, hopefully, to make a difference for our country, but also in the lives of someone else, who will see my story as an inspiration to do something great. This is my ultimate goal. "
Alexander also congratulated the other South African nominees – Malcolm Marx and Faf de Klerk (Male Player of the Year), Rbadie Erasmus (Coach of the Year), Springboks (Team of the Year).
"We are pleased with the resurgence of the Springboks under Rbadie Erasmus and its coaching staff and believe that we are moving in the right direction as we prepare for the 2019 Rugby World Cup, as evidenced by these nominations. Said Alexander.
"I would also like to congratulate Ireland's Johnny Sexton (World Rugby World Player of the Year) and Joe Schmidt (World Rugby Coach of the Year), as well as the Irish team (World Team). year rugby) for their rewards, which were just reward after a magnificent season.
