The highest paid TV channels in the world have been revealed, the stars of the small screen pocketing hundreds of millions of pounds a year.

The Forbes list is made up entirely of American day presenters, whose exceptional ratings make their salaries superior to those of their counterparts in prime time.

We look at the top five highest paid hosts and how they earn millions.

Who are the highest paid TV hosts in the UK?

The salaries of the most paid British broadcasters do not even get close to those on the other side of the Atlantic.

Ant and Dec reportedly earned £ 29.5 million in the year prior to June 2017, while Dermot O 'Leary's X-Factor would have annual earnings of £ 3 million.

Gary Lineker, the host of the Match of the Day, received between £ 1,750,000 and £ 1,799,999 a year.

Graham Norton earned between £ 850,000 and £ 899,999 in 2017, but this did not include the salary of his Friday night talk show.

The BBC's main winner was radio host Chris Evans, who received more than £ 2 million a year.
