AmaZulu finally won their first Absa Premiership victory in three months after beating Highlands Park 2-1 in Tembisa last night.

The struggling Usuthu – who has the lineup on the table – recorded his first away win of the season, thanks to persistent foliage Siyabonga "Bhele" Nomvethe.

The 40-year-old striker came off the bench just before half-time and gave the advantage to his team in the 50th minute.

The Northern Lions solved the problem in the 57th minute with Lindokuhle Mbatha's boot, whose brilliant shot beat Usuthu goalkeeper Siyabonga Mbatha.

The visitors – who seemed better compared to their performances in the first stanza – not only prevented the Highlands from taking control of the proceedings, but also forced them to defend themselves in large numbers.

The home defense has not surprised if AmaZulu has finally regained the advantage thanks to the 68th minute goal of Argentine striker Emiliano Tade.

The Highlands did their best to return to the match, but their efforts were in vain. Unfortunately for AmaZulu, Nomvethe had to leave the field in the 75th minute due to an apparent injury.

It was the first home defeat of the Highlands. They should have wrapped in the first half where they created too many opportunities, but simply could not convert. The first glorious opportunity came in the 16th minute, but Moeketsi Sekola escaped.

Elsewhere at night, Maritzburg United was held to a 0-0 loss by Chippa United, while the Cape Town of Benni McCarthy went 2-1 to Polokwane City.
