Rivian, a US manufacturer of electric vehicles, has released images and information on its all-electric double-cabin bakkie that will debut at the Los Angeles auto show, as well as on the upcoming R1S SUV.

The distinctive style of the R1T incorporates strong proportions and clean, continuous lines. The main body line envelops the cabin while highlighting the cutting line of the "transmission tunnel" (see images above). The R1T is characterized by short overhangs, high ground clearance and competitive approach and departure angles.

Moving inward, the brand's designers sought to create an upscale, comfortable and sturdy cabin. To do this, inspirations from outside the automotive industry such as contemporary furniture design and hiking and outdoor equipment were evaluated to drive the design.

With an electric motor for each wheel, the Rivian R1T is capable of producing up to 520 kW and 1120 N.m. The manufacturer claims an impressive range of over 600 km and a skating depth of up to 1 meter. What is even more impressive is an announced time of 3.2 seconds between 0 and 100 km / h.

The bakkie uses a sophisticated suspension including a double wishbone suspension at the front and a multi-link suspension at the rear. The suspension configuration also includes dynamic roll control and adaptive dampers, as well as a height-adjustable air suspension.

"We are launching Rivian with two vehicles that reinvent the van and SUV segment," said Rivian founder and CEO, RJ Scaringe. "I started to offer products that the world did not have yet, to redefine expectations through the application of technology and innovation. Starting with a clean sheet, we have spent years developing technology to provide the ideal vehicle for active customers.

"It means having excellent driving dynamics on any surface, on or off road, by providing loading solutions to easily tidy up any type of gear, whatever it is. act of a surfboard or a fishing rod, and, above all, able to travel long distances on a single distance charge. Rivian has developed its vehicles with adventurers at the heart of all design and engineering decisions.
